grappig vind ik het om te bemerken dat de vele foto's die ik tijdens mijn academietijd van de half vergane en gesloten textielfabrieken in Enschede en omgeving maakte, overgingen in een serie van vergane en gesloten kerkgebouwen in Amsterdam en omgeving.
Het woordje kerk bleek dus eigenlijk helemaal niets met die grote puntige of ronde gebouwen te maken te hebben. De protserige sierlijke kruisbeelden, heilige beelden, kaarsjes, autoritaire priesters met wierook, biechthokjes en vele bidbeeldjes vanuit de hoogte en daarbij nog eens die overweldigende kerkorgels, vormen zelfs het tegendeel van alles dat er met woord KERK in de Bijbel bedoeld kan worden. Laat dus voor eens en altijd duidelijk zijn dat de kerk geen gebouw is, geen organisatie en ook geen religieuze traditie is. De kerk betekend dus alleen maar hoe Jezus Christus zichtbaar wordt. Robert Long waarschuwde de Nederlanders hier al voor en zong toen: “Redt “Jezus” uit de goot!” Wat de mensen ervan maakten was vreselijk en werkelijk op geen enkele wijze in God te noemen. De kerk kan dus alleen maar in jezelf zitten, dus wie jij bent in Christus en hoe je daarmee een onderdeel vormt van iets dat werkelijk als kerk beschouwd kan worden en met andere heiligen als het ware lichaam, met Jezus Christus als het enige ware hoofd, daadwerkelijk opgebouwd kan worden.

find it funny to notice that the many photos that I took of the half-decayed and closed textile factories in Enschede and the surrounding area that I took during my academy days became a series of decayed and closed church buildings in Amsterdam and the surrounding area.
The word church turned out to have nothing to do with those large pointed or round buildings. The gaudy graceful crucifixes, holy statues, candles, authoritarian priests with incense, confession booths and many prayer statues from above and those overwhelming church organs, even form the opposite of everything that can be meant by the word CHURCH in the Bible. So let it be clear once and for all that the church is not a building, not an organization, nor is it a religious tradition. So the church only means how Jesus Christ becomes visible. Robert Long warned the Dutch about this and then sang: "Save“ Jesus ”from the gutter!" What the people made of it was terrible and really in no way to be named in God. So the church can only be in yourself, so who you are in Christ and how you thereby form a part of something that can really be considered a church and with other saints as the true body, with Jesus Christ as the only true head, can actually be built up.
